Papa Russ

Russ's funeral was so nice! It was a nice end to a long emotional week!  The viewing was really hard! None of my kids had seen him yet. My Mom had come over Monday morning while we were with Lynn, we didn't want any of the kids to see him in the hot tub and have that be their last memory of him.  I ran home Monday after his body had been taken to grab the kids to come be with us at Lynn's.  They all fell apart the moment they saw me.  I planned to quickly grab them and head back up to Lynn's, but when I got home they ran to me sobbing, so we sat on the couch for a while and cried.  Then we headed to Lynn's and when they saw Matt they did the same thing.  It was hard to see them so sad! Chase was at scout camp though, so he wasn't there for all of that, and after the initial shock everyone seemed fine, until Thursday that is.  Seeing him was so hard on the kids, and they cried for most of the night.  I didn't even really socialize with people at the viewing, I sat on the couch most of the night with one or more of my children crying on my shoulder, it was heartbreaking.  They were much better at the funeral.  It was so nice to see so much family!  It really meant a lot to see how much family flew in to be there! The program was great! Rick gave the life sketch. It was perfect!  Just fun stories about Russ that kept us laughing! Debbie, Kelsie, and I each just talked briefly about being his daughter-in law
