Her What??

HERPANGINA (her-pan-gi-na)

: a contagious disease of children characterized by fever, headache, and sores in the throat.

I just can't even begin to tell you how  much fun we've had saying this word all week long!  On Monday Aspen stayed home from school because she had a fever and a sore throat.  By Wednesday night she was still sick so I took her to the doctors thinking for sure she had strep throat.  To my surprise the test results came back negative.  After looking in her throat though it was obvious to the doctor that she had Herpangina.  

-The next morning Chase woke up and asked if Aspen had strep.  I told him no and then he asked what she did have.  I said "Herpangina"  and he burst out laughing and then said "Her what?"

-Scott wasn't sure why we were laughing so hard, all he knew was it had something to do with the word Herpangina, so he decided to try saying it.  Sure enough, we all laughed.  He therefore has said it randomly over the last couple days just to get a few giggles out of us.  We will all be reading stories, or eating dinner and Scott will suddenly exclaim "Herpagina!".  And we laugh every time.

-Chase got home from school and said "Mom, I didn't feel very good at school today.  I told my teacher that I might have Herpagina..."  After he saw the shocked look on my face he said, "Just kidding Mom" :)

-Matt called on his way home from work on Friday to see if we were going to the ward trunk-or-treat that night.  I told him no because Zoe was now sick and he said "Well if there's anything I've learned over the past few days it's that you don't mess around with Herpagina!"

-My Mom came by to see how the girls were doing and said to Zoe, "It's no fun to have Pagina problems!" (I laughed pretty hard at that), and On Saturday Debbie asked Aspen, "Is your Pagina all better?"

**Everyone is now feeling A OKAY, but for a couple days there we all thought we were pretty funny!

CornBelly's round 2... Family Night

We had so much fun at Cornbelly's we made a night of it.  Our wrist bands were good all day so we could all come and go as we pleased.  Also, my parents accidentaly bought tickets for all the 2 year olds and they didn't need to because 2 and under are free, they went to get their money back but all they could get was a free pass.  So they gave us each a free pass we could use for our husbands.  It was really nice.  We got there right when it opened at 10am, stayed until about 3, came home and Lola and Cooper took naps, then right when Matt got home at 5 we went back.  My entire family did the same so everyone was there again at night.  It made it a lot more fun having everyone there because the kids could divide into different groups, and they didn't all have to do the same thing.  Not to mention, it was really nice to have a few more adults to help with the kids!  We were so out numbered during the day, I think each of us lost one of our children at one point.  Needless to say we liked  having our husbands there :)

P.S.  We're having Cornbelly's withdrawls.  We have to drive past it twice a week on our way to Chase's soccer practice.  Each time we do the kids all get super excited and say "Oh, that place is so much fun!  When can we go back there?"

CornBelly's

This is one of the dates my parents give the kids for Christmas.  The kids look forward to it all year long!  It is such a fun place, and there is so much to do there!

I think everyone decided the slide was their favorite part.  We were here forever, and the kids went on it over and over again.

Chase took Zadek with him almost every time because Zadek loved it and he was sure he was just as big as everyone else, so he should be able to go too.

Scoot's is the only one who didn't love the slide.  In fact, he was terrified of it!  He went up there with the intentions of going down, but froze at the top.  Jordan tried to get him to come down on her lap, and my Dad did too, but in the end he just walked back down.  He loved playing on these Monster trikes though while everyone else went on the slide :)

Lola is sure that smiling means: Close your eyes and open your mouth, or stick out your tongue.  So that is what she does, every time I tell her to smile :)

It was a little chilly and I didn't bring Coop at hat, so this was our next best option.

I thought this was so cute.  Lola Loved the singing cows and corn!  She wandered over all by herself, made herself comfortable there on the hay, and watched them for probably 10 minutes.

Thompson Family Halloween Party

It's that time of year again! :) My parents Halloween party is the perfect way to get me excited and in the Halloween spirit!  They (Meaning my parents) are so generous, and they put so much effort into everything they do for our family!  I hope they get out of it as much as they put into it!  And hopefully they know how much we all appreciate them!  Seriously, this party was awesome.  There was a tasty dinner of Maggots and swamp slime, with all sorts of disgusting toppings to go with it...

There was great company...

And tons of fun games, with even funner prizes!  There was ...                           A Ring Toss.

Cookie Decorating (This was definitely Lola's most FAVORITE station!, She visited it three times.  She had a special way of icing her cookies where she would get frosting on a knife, rub it on the cookie, and then lick the rest off.  She did it over and over again.  So If you'll notice the decorated cookies, not many of them use green frosting because that became Lola's very quickly :)

Jordan took on the job of decorating all the unused cookies.  It was a tough job, but somebody had to do it!  She did very well, and had some impressive looking cookies in the end.

Angry Monsters (Just a small side note... for those of you who know me you know how CRAZY it is that Matt and I are not dressed up for this party.  This game is the reason for that.  We decided last minute to make a real catapult, as well as little water bottle people, just to make the game more fun.  Last minute being 2 hours before the party was supposed to start.  So stay tuned to see pics of the entire family dressed up together!  Those will come soon :)

(Chase felt sad for the poor water bottle people getting attacked by all the monsters.  He rescued one from the bunch)

And of course A Scavenger Hunt (that is a tradition, and the prize is always a pinata)

The little Tater Tots all eventually decided they were done partying and made their way out to the sand box.

In the end Franken-Coop was pooped :)
