Deja Vu

Oops he did it again.  Cooper broke his arm again.  Same arm and same bone as last year, just a different spot.  I was getting home from the gym in the morning and he heard the garage open so he ran down the stairs to greet me.  He jumped the last couple stairs but his feet landed on a basket ball and fell out from under him so he tried to catch himself.  This tie it was obviously broken though.  Last time it broke closer to the wrist and this time it was way up by the elbow so his arm looked deformed and limp.  I put him right in the car and went to the doctors.  It was a long day!  He was so sad until he got the splint on and had a little car nap and then after that he was a champ for all of it.  We went to the doctors then the hospital for x-rays, then home for a nap, then I had to wake him from his nap to go to the orthopedic surgeon, and then after that we had to go back to the hospital to get checked in for surgery the next morning.

The cookies at the hospital really helped to cheer him up!

Aspen made a little bed for him out of stuffed animals for his nap. :)

That night my parents texted to see how he was doing and he happened to be riding a wiggle bike at the time with one arm.  I just thought it was funny!  Nothing slows this kid down!  If I busted my arm bad enough that I needed it reset I'm pretty sure I would use that as an excuse not to do anything at all, especially the day of!

We had surgery early the next morning.  They call it surgery because they put him under to do it, but they don't have to make any incisions.  They just manipulate the bone to get it back into the right position before they cast it.  it kinda grosses me out!

Matt stuck his finger through Coopers mask and told him to try and bite it, just trying to make him have some fun with the mask so he wasn't scared of the mask and Cooper bit him hard. :)  It was hilarious!

He did fine coming out of surgery except for that he was really mad about having an IV in and wanted it out ASAP!  Usually they like to wait until the kids can hold down food before they take out the IV but Josh's Mom happened to be his nurse (Jordans Mother-in-law) so she just did it early just to make him happy!  Well it back fired because it hurt him so bad to get it off that he was even more mad after.  It was funny because while she was taking it off she was telling him that she was Zeke and Paisley's other Grandma and he kinda looked at her like "What kind of Grandma would do this to someone." :)

When we got home Erin used her mad skills to make it look like Raph, his favorite Ninja Turtle!  It was pretty much the COOLEST cast ever!  Everywhere he's gone all summer long he's gotten so much attention for it!  It's held up too!  We've gone swimming 2-3 times a week and it hasn't even faded.  It was sweet!

We went and got it off yesterday.  They took it off to x-ray it and decided it looked good enough to just put a splint on for the next month and not re-cast it.  Which was a relief!  

He was a champ about getting it sawed off, but then again this wasn't a first for him!

When they got it off they found a Quarter inside!  He told me he stuck some money in there so I told the nurse it was a possibility.  It had made a pretty nasty spot on his arm, but luckily hadn't turned into an open sore or anything.  His arm was pretty wasted though.  He started itching right away and before I realized what he was doing was pretty much a bleeding mess.  Poor Thing!

We celebrated the girls Birthday at Sunday dinner.  They were showered with treats and presents and felt compeletely spoiled.  Thanks everyone!

Happy Birthday Aspen

 

For Aspen's Birthday she was very specific, she wanted to go to hang time with Brooke and Olivia, she wanted chocolate chip cookies, and she wanted to have a whip cream fight... So we made all her dreams come true and did just that!  She is still the sweetest thing and continues to keep the peace in our crazy house!  We love you Aspen!  Happy Birthday!

 

 

Swim Days

 

We bought a pool pass this summer and got our moneys worth out of it in June.  Now we just basically swim for free.  It's the best!  The pool is close enough that my older kids can ride their bikes to it with their friends.  And it opens early enough that I can take my little ones over for a couple hours before lunch and naps.  So it is pretty much our favorite thing to do!

 

Matt got me this wagon for Mothers Day.  It is amazing!  I don't know how I ever lived without it!  I can haul 3 kids and all my pool stuff without even breaking a sweat!

Aspen and Zoe's friend Booke gave them each a mermaid tail for their birthdays.  They are the coolest things and these girls love playing in the pool with them.  They are pretty famous too.  LIttle kids follow them around trying to pet their tails.  I was walking back to my chair one day and I walked past a 2 year old girl who was crying on her moms lap begging her to find the mermaids.  The mom was like... What are you talking about?

Good thing this thing is waterproof!  It doesn't slow him down a bit.  Well except for the fact that it is too big for him to get his floaty past so he has to wear the life jacket that he hates.

Yellowstone

Matt performed a wedding for one of his buddies in Yellowstone a couple weeks ago.  We decided to go down early and make a family vacation out of it.  It was a blast!  On our way down we stopped at Bear World.  We loved this!  It was cool!  It felt different than the Zoo because the bears come right up to your car and there are so many of them.  Will was our Chauffeur for the driving part.

They have a little petting zoo you can walk through that is fun!  There was the cutest little baby deer in there!

Kind of cool to pet a deer.  That was a first for most of us!

They also had a few little dinky rides, that were not anything special but the kids enjoyed them.  There was hardly anyone here at all so the kids could just run from one ride to the next over and over again.  It was awesome!

Lola fell in love with this little bear.  We gave all the kids a souvenir budget and this is what she had to have with her money.  We tried talking her out of it because it used her whole budget but her mind was made up. 

We hiked around a little at the park.  The first place we stopped to get out had a tour bus full of Asian people that had just gotten dropped of there too and they could not get over how big our family was.  We would see them counting and pointing as we walked by.  We got stopped over and over again by people wanting to either take pictures with us or of us.  My kids felt famous! :)

Matt likes to be super Manly and hold all the kids when they get tired.  I offer to help but he won't let me most of the time.

This trip was so much fun because we met up with all of Matt's best buddies from high school, there are only two of them in this picture but they all eventually made it there.  We used to see them all the time, but then life got crazy so it's been a long time since we've seen some of them.

Will was so accommodating and just layed on our shoulders and took a nap when he finally got tired enough.  Sweet little baby!

Cooper voluntarily took a nap while we were out too.  Suz started tickling his back and that was it, he was a goner.

Our favorite hike was by Old Faithful.  There is about a 3 mile hike/walk that starts and ends at Old Faithful.  It was really cool!  There were 50 more geysers that we saw on that walk.

One of the Geysers we saw actually erupts longer and higher than Old Faithful but it only goes off every 6 hours so it's not as famous.  We happened to walk up to it as it started erupting.  It was sweet! 

There were buffalo everywhere.  They seem so tame because they just waltz in front of you like they own the place.  Someone dared Chase to go up and touch one.  Luckily one of Matt's friends informed him that a guy had just gotten killed  a couple days earlier otherwise we might not have been able to talk Chase out of trying...
